Describe backups without guessing the cause
Tell the business which fixtures are backing up, where wastewater appears and whether previous clearing helped. Avoid contact with wastewater and stop using affected fixtures. A backup does not by itself prove roots, a collapsed line or a utility failure.
Ask for usable inspection findings
If a camera assessment is proposed, ask what line will be inspected, what access is needed and whether the recording and findings are provided. Have the plumber distinguish an observed obstruction from a confirmed pipe defect and explain any uncertainty.
Confirm ownership and the repair limits
Private and utility-maintained lines can have different responsibilities. Identify the wastewater provider and ask who confirms the boundary at the address. A postal locality or map on this site is not an ownership determination.
Compare repair and restoration together
Excavation, pipe access, permits, surface restoration and testing may be separate parts of the job. Ask how the proposed method addresses the documented defect, what is excluded and what additional findings could change the price.
Before calling, distinguish one-fixture symptoms from a shared drainage problem and describe what you observed.
Questions to ask about sewer-line inspection & repair
- Can I keep the inspection recording and written findings?
- Who confirms the private/utility responsibility boundary?
- Are excavation and surface restoration included?
Does the quote include everything?
Ask about assessment charges, the proposed remedy, parts, testing and work excluded from the scope. Availability and charges depend on the independent business and actual property. Compare the supplied scopes and exclusions before choosing.
